A Little Trip to Kew Gardens 🌿🌸

I recently took a little trip up to London to visit the beautiful Royal Botanic Kew Gardens and it was everything I hoped it would be and more.

It’s not often I step away from the nursery, so having the chance to spend a day completely surrounded by plants (on a slightly bigger scale than usual! 🫣) was really special. From the moment we drove in, and the city melted away it just felt crazy that the landscape could change so drastically. We parked up and made our way to the gardens, from the moment we walked in it felt refreshing & inspiring, everywhere you looked there was something new to take in.

Stepping Into the Tropics 🌴

One of my favourite parts of the day was visiting the Palm House. Walking through the doors, you’re instantly hit with that warm, humid air and completely surrounded by towering tropical plants.

It felt like stepping into another world. The size, the textures, the sheer variety, it’s the kind of place that makes you stop and properly appreciate just how incredible plants really are.

A Walk Through the Temperate House 🌿

We then wandered over to the Temperate House, which is just as impressive in a completely different way.

It’s so open and airy, filled with plants from all over the world. You can take your time walking through, noticing all the little details; different leaf shapes, colours, and growth habits. It’s the sort of place where you could happily spend hours and still not see everything.

Seeing It All From Above 🌳

We also took a walk along the Treetop Walkway, which gave us such a lovely view across the gardens. (I can’t say I was looking 100% of the time 👀🫣)

The weather was beautiful, and seeing everything from above really puts into perspective just how much thought goes into every planted area. It’s not just about individual plants, it’s how everything works together. This was also my daughter’s favourite activity!

So Much Inspiration 🌸

One of the things I loved most was seeing all the spring displays in full bloom. The beds were full of colour, beautifully arranged, and so carefully maintained (as you can probably tell from the photo!).

It’s amazing how something like that can spark so many ideas, whether it’s plant combinations, colours, or even just how things are laid out. I definitely came away feeling inspired.

Bringing Ideas Back Home 🪴

Even though Kew is on a completely different scale to what we do at Looe Valley Plants, the passion behind it feels very similar.

Trips like this always remind me why I love growing plants so much! I’ve come back full of ideas that I’m excited to bring into the nursery, whether that’s new varieties, different displays, or just a fresh bit of inspiration.

If you ever get the chance to visit Kew Gardens, I’d really recommend it. It’s such a lovely day out and a real treat if you love plants as much as I do 🌿✨

As always, thank you so much for your support 💚
